“Green” bus line plying Makati routes adds 6 more units

There should be more buses like these in other parts of Metro Manila. (Obviously, we’re sick of crowd surfing in decrepit, smelly “tin cans on wheels.”)

“Hybrid bus operator Green Frog Transport Corp. has added six units on its Buendia-Kalayaan route in Makati City,” reports Alena Mae S. Flores in Manila Standard Today.

Prior to this, Green Frog had two buses plying the Buendia-Kalayaan Avenue route in Makati City, with 16 designated bus stops on each side along the way. These buses, which emit less harmful emissions compared to the conventional diesel-run buses, are airconditioned and equipped with six closed CCTV cameras, as well as a GPS system.

According to the report, “the buses are designed with low floors and easy access through a front entrance and rear exit, luggage or shopping bag racks, and coral-colored PWD (persons with disability) seats.”

The six new buses have been named after artists, the so-called Old Masters: Bernini, Botticelli, Buonarotti, Caravaggio, Cellini, Da Vinci, Pontormo, and Santi.

The fare for a Green Frog bus ride is PHP20, but the company also offers “tap cards” in denominations of PHP150 (for 10 rides), PHP300 (for 20 rides), and PHP600 (40 rides). There is, however, a PHP50 deposit for each card.
