A 68-year-old man was arrested after police discovered that he was operating an eye clinic without license.
The suspect, Amando Duyo, presented himself as an eye doctor and examined patients who visited his clinic in Cubao, Quezon City.
In an entrapment operation, an undercover agent who posed as a patient confirmed that Duyo acted like a doctor and asked for payment for his services.
The police authorities confiscated the auto refractometer, corrective lenses, examination lenses, and sample eyeglasses found in Duyo’s clinic.
Upon further investigations, it was discovered that Duyo was an optical technician. His wife who was a real optometrist died in 2012.
Duyo is facing charges for unauthorized practice of optometry.
