Taxi booking app GrabTaxi Philippines says it has “resolved” an incident involving one of its taxi affiliates’ drivers. But they’re not going into details.
“We respect the privacy of all parties involved after our full investigation. Apologies for the one week anticipation. We take matters like this seriously,” the taxi booking app posted on its FB page.
Privacy? Dear GrabTaxi, who are you protecting here? Your future passengers or your business interest?
It was a certain Aldrin Hualda who posted the complaint on Facebook in behalf of his colleague. It involves driver Rodel de Guzman, who picked up a passenger, Aldrin Hualda’s colleague in a taxi with plate number TXY 835 on August 11 at 10:30pm. Hualda posted the complaint on August 14.
According to Hualda’s Facebook update, de Guzman was unusually chatty and kept leaning towards the passenger seat. By the time they reached Quiapo, the passenger noticed that the driver had something stuck inside his nose. Unsure, he instead, quickly turned to breathing through his mouth.
De Guzman asked the passenger if he was feeling sleepy—and told him that it was safe for him to take a nap. That’s when the passenger announced he was going to get off. When de Guzman turned [to look at him], he noticed that the driver was holding a white rag and wearing a “rubber thing” that blocked his nose. The passenger thought he tasted something strange in his mouth, and felt weak. He told the driver he’ll be getting off. Even with the vehicle still moving, he opened the door and got off.
