It’s pretty clear that ride-hailing services like Uber and Grab are supposed to be for living human beings trying to get from one place to another.
But apparently, not everyone understands that.
While a package delivery request might be understandable here and there, we’re pretty sure you’re not supposed to book Grab or Uber rides for dead people.
The request to deliver a dead body was one of several strange requests shared by drivers yesterday during a meeting with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
The Grab driver shared a screenshot of a passenger’s message asking to have the dead body picked up from a hospital and brought to a seaport about 109 kilometers away.

“I’m carrying a dead body but it will be the only one riding [the Grab car], I’ll just cover the fee for the tollgate,” the passenger’s message said in Filipino.
This is not the only example of how Grab and Uber can be misused. On Monday, PDEA said that drivers may not be aware that they are being used to deliver illegal drugs.
During yesterday’s meeting, drivers aired out their concerns and said that rejecting requests like this would lower their ratings on the app.
Both Grab and Uber’s rating system have penalties for drivers with low scores, which could result in being suspended or expelled from the system.
