A Grab driver has been arrested after he was caught selling illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation.

According to Quezon City Police District Director Chief Superintendent Joselito Esquivel Jr., the driver’s name is Daniel Ordoñez, ABS-CBN News reported.

Radio station RMN reported that Ordoñez was driving his Grab vehicle, a Mitsubishi Mirage, when he met up with the undercover cop near a convenience store in Quezon City.

The same report states that the police found out about the driver’s drug deals after another drug suspect who was arrested the night before ratted Ordoñez out.

Found in the driver’s possession were three sachets of suspected shabu (meth) and marked money.

QCPD Police Station 10 Chief Police Superintendent Louise Benjie told RMN that apart from charging him for selling drugs, they also plan to get his driver’s license and Grab franchise revoked.

This is not the first time a Grab driver was linked to the illegal drug trade.

Last August, a GrabExpress driver was arrested for allegedly delivering cocaine. Another Grab driver was arrested in September after sachets of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were seized from him and his companion.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency also said last year that some drivers for ride-hailing apps like Grab have unknowingly become couriers for drug dealers.
