Gov’t agencies tell Yolanda victims not to eat corpses of animals

Don’t even think twice about eating corpses of animals, two government agencies has this to say to typhoon victims.

“The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) have warned people in areas devastated by super-typhoon “Yolanda” against eating dead animals and meat products submerged in floodwater as these are contaminated with bacteria and dirt,” a report by the Manila Bulletin said.

The agencies also warned victims not to attempt consuming thawed meat and meat products they fished out of floodwaters as they were likely contaminated.

They reminded the victims to be careful about canned goods they find in the rubble because it might have been contaminated as well.
