Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s half-brother, Arturo dela Rosa Macapagal, passed away on Tue morning, Aug 11. Arroyo was supposed to see him today for a five-hour furlough from 3pm to 8pm at the Makati Medical Center.
Macapagal had been confined at the Makati Medical Center for prostate cancer. He was the son of President Diosdado Macapagal from his first wife, Purita dela Rosa.
He was the eldest of the four Macapagal siblings. He and Cielo Macapagal were half-siblings of the former president and Diosdado Jr. or Buboy.
The former president and Buboy are the late president’s children with his second wife, former First Lady Evangelina Macapagal.
The Pampanga representative is currently under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center for plunder in connection with the alleged misuse of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) funds.
Arroyo’s camp has said that they intend to file for a motion seeking permission for Arroyo to be allowed to attend her brother’s wake.
