“Former president and current Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has filed a four-page motion asking the Sandiganbayan to grant her a furlough from April 4 to 6 to celebrate her birthday in her hometown,” reports Charissa Luci in the Manila Bulletin.
Arroyo will turn 67 on April 5.
Get this: “In her motion, Arroyo said she would shoulder the expenses if she is allowed to celebrate her birthday in Pampanga.”
The Sandiganbayan will hear the motion on Mar 13.
Meanwhile, Arroyo remains under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City as she continues to face plunder charges “in connection with alleged fraudulent transfer of PHP366 million in confidential intelligence fund (CIF) of the state-run Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) from 2008 to 2010.”
