It’s just for the day.
“The Sandiganbayan First Division has allowed former president and now Pampanga Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to undergo a medical examination at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
According to Arroyo’s lawyer, Modesto Ticman Jr., said the anti-graft court allowed Arroyo to undergo ”urodynamic testing (UDT).” He also revealed that “Arroyo has been having difficulty urinating and even suffered bleeding in April.”
The prosecution panel initially objected to the Arroyo camp’s request. They said a similar facility is available at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute, which is nearer to Veterans’ Memorial Medical Center (VMMC). However they agreed to the request “after the Arroyo camp said they would shoulder the expenses for Arroyo’s travel, security detail, and the medical examination itself.”
Arroyo has been confined at the VMMC since October 2012. She is under “hospital arrest” because she is facing plunder charges in connection with the alleged P366-million Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) scam, which was supposedly done during her stint as president.
Arroyo will be back at VMMC right after the UDT.
