Globe cuts off service of more than 1,600 scam or spam numbers

If you’re sick of those spam and text messages, this will make you smile a bit.

“Globe Telecom said that more than 1,600 numbers have been cut off from service after they were identified as a constant source of spam and scam messages,” reports ABS-CBNNews.com.

Globe said that the service for the said numbers will only be restored “if the users contest the move and show proof they are not text spammers.”

The Globe website has a channel where its customers can report text spams and text scams. Click this link to go there.

The report added that, so far, “Globe Telecom has already blocked nearly 2 million spam and scam text messages, since it implemented an automated filtering system last August, to prevent its mobile subscribers from receiving these messages.”

According to Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President and Head of Service Management Division, Network Technical Group, the filtering mechanism now covers more than 70% of Globe’s 2.1 million postpaid customers.
