German national Reinhard Hirschmann — who now lives in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo with his Filipina wife — is encouraging everyone to utilize sunlight for cooking.

Hirschmann, who used to teach at a university in Germany, has crafted a solar cooker from recycled materials.

In an ANC feature, Hirschmann explains how his eco-friendly creation was built for the price of PHP7,988. It took him one year to perfect its design.

Hirschmann has no plans of patenting his solar cooker. In fact, he wants people to copy it. “I hope it makes the world a little bit better,” he said.
