Gen. ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa spends his much needed time-off to cheer for Ginebra

You weren’t the only one cheering your heart out at Fri (Oct 7) night’s intense ball game between Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings and Meralco Bolts.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa watched Game One of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals live at the Araneta Coliseum for some much needed time off.

After all, one can only imagine how stressful it is to lead the war on drugs.

According to an ABS-CBN News report, Dela Rosa considers himself a die-hard fan of the Gin Kings, especially now that a fellow Davaoeño is part of the team.

Kababayan ko si Scottie Thompson,” Dela Rosa pointed out in a courtside interview.

He was referring to Ginebra rookie Scottie Thompson, a local of Padada, Davao del Sur.

Sadly, Ginebra lost the first game of the Finals by five points, 114-109.

Despite being a fan of Ginebra since the golden days of veteran cager Robert Jaworski, Dela Rosa said this is the first time he watched a live PBA game since he became the head of PNP.

“‘Pag may pagkakataon, talagang manonood ako. This is the right time for me to relax sa aking trabaho,” he said in the same ABS-CBN report.

(When there’s an opportunity, I’ll definitely watch. This is the right time for me to relax from my job.)
