On Sun, Feb 28, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, along with members of the women’s group Gabriela, attended a forum of the Women for Action. Instead of getting into an argument, it seems that Duterte and Gabriela members are “compatible.”
An ABS-CBN News report quotes Gabriela Party-list Rep. Luz Ilagan as saying, “[The criticism against Duterte’s] womanizing and kissing… Most of that is media hype. Even if he says that he’s a womanizer, that he has girlfriends… Remember that the mayor is already separated. His marriage has been annulled.”
Ilagan added, “I personally even say that look beyond the words, look beyond the actions. Focus on what he has done, what he can do, what he is still doing that will benefit our people.”
The report recalled: “The Gabriela once slammed Duterte for his sexual affairs, saying that ‘womanizing and flaunting it is an affront to women.’ Ilagan said their comments against Duterte were “principled criticisms” that the mayor has acknowledged.”
