The Metro Manila Council, which is composed of the 17 mayors of the National Capital Region, recently agreed to each adopt an area or areas that were hit hard by Typhoon Yolanda. As reported by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the following “adoptions” have been done:
1. Quezon City will adopt Palompon and Tolosa, Sante Fe in Leyte.
2. Pasig City will take care of Mayorga, Palo, Barotac Viejo and Nuevo, and Dumangas in Iloilo
3. Mandaluyong City will be assigned to Isabel and Tanauan, Leyte.
4. Marikina City will adopt Hernani and Lorente, Eastern Samar; San Juan to Ormoc City, and Albuera, Leyte.
5. Taguig City will take of Gen. McArthur, Guiuan, Salcedo, Mercedes, and Quinapondan in Eastern Samar.
6. Las Piñas City will care for Julita and Dulag, Leyte.
7. Caloocan City will be for Javier, McArthur, and La Paz in Leyte.
8. Malabon City will take on Bogo, Cebu.
9. Navotas City is in charge of Lawaan and Giporlos, Eastern Samar.
10. Valenzuela City will be for Basey and Marabut in Western Samar.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be in charge of Coron, Palawan, and Sulat, Eastern Samar. *Other Metro Manila cities’ assignments are still being mapped out.
