“French President Francois Hollande’s visit to the Yolanda-hit town of Guiuan in Eastern Samar on Friday, February 26, is one of the highlights of the European economic powerhouse’s leader trip to the Philippines,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report noted: “Hollande is in the Philippines to drum up support for a climate change pact that is due to be signed in December this year.”

According to Guiuan Mayor Christopher Gonzales, “an advance party has already gone around to check on the devastated communities Hollande will be visiting, as well as the school where he will be delivering his speech.”

Gonzales also revealed Hollande “does not want to be treated like a VIP during his visit.”

Gonzales explained: “He wants to be just a normal person who will visit the town. He doesn’t want to be a VIP. Even the security measures are not that tight.”
