What else is there to say about this horrific case?
“The law office of Sigfrid Fortun and Gregorio Narvasa II—Fortun, Narvasa, and Salazar (FNS)—has resigned as counsel of former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Governor Zaldy Ampatuan in the Maguindanao Massacre trial,” reports Chito A. Chavez in Manila Bulletin.
According to the report, “in a two-page withdrawal of appearance, the law firm asked the court handling the case to directly furnish Zaldy with copies of documents in his detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.”
The report went on to note that “the withdrawal of appearance was signed by Narvasa and lawyer Albert Lee Angeles, as well as Zaldy, who gave his conformity on the matter.”
However, Fortun has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the firm’s decision.
The law firm, though, remains the lead counsel of his Zaldy’s brother Andal Jr. and their father Andal Sr.
