The municipality of Pateros has joined the dispute over where Fort Andres Bonifacio is. This, after the Court of Appeals ruled that the Fort is in the jurisdiction of Makati City, and not Taguig City.
Pateros Mayor Joey Medina said over Radio DZMM that the municipality also has a claim over the area, which he said the municipality used to refer to as Barrio Mamangkat. “The municipality of Pateros is claiming (Bonifacio) Global City and the portions that Makati and Taguig are in a dispute over,” he said in Filipino.
He said the municipality filed its claim before the Taguig Regional Trial Court in 2012.
In its decision that favored Makati, the Court of Appeals noted it took Taguig until 1993 to dispute Presidential proclamations issued in 1986 and 1990 giving Makati’s jurisdiction over Fort Bonifacio.
