Former taxi driver wins PHP90 million lotto jackpot

Is there tax on this? If so, how much is it?

“A 67-year-old former taxi driver from Novaliches, Quezon City became P90 million richer after winning the jackpot of the 6/49 Super Lotto’s October 5 draw,” reports Perseus Echeminada in The Philippine Star.

According to Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) chairman Jose Ferdinand Rojas II, the ex-taxi driver hit the six-digit winning combination 43-48-06-11-13-29, which had a jackpot of PHP90,126,700.

The winner’s strategy: He bet PHP60 for the number combination picked from the birthdays of his family members.

The former taxi driver had been a lotto player since 1995. He said he would buy a house and lot, share his winnings with his six children, invest in a transportation business, and donate to charity.
