Former presidential aspirant Rep. Roy Señeres Sr. dies

Political pundits have been on the case of presidential aspirant Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago for her health, but it’s another presidentiable who was actually in danger.

“OFW Family party-list Representative Roy Señeres Sr. — who announced his bid to run for president under the ticket of the Partido ng Manggagawa at Magsasaka last October and then formally withdrew from the race last Friday, February 5 — died from cardiac arrest early Monday, February 8,” reports ABS-CBN News.

The news was confirmed by Señeres’ younger brother, Ike. The congressman was 68 years old.

The report noted: “Señeres was earlier rushed to the intensive care unit of the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City.”

It may be recalled that Señeres cited health reasons for backing out of the race. He was reportedly “advised by his doctor to avoid stress that could aggravate his long-standing diabetes.”
