The man who was once vilified for bending prison rules by coming and going as he pleased is now getting a genuine get-out-of-jail card.
“On Friday, Dec 6, the Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed that former Batangas Governor Antonio ‘Tony’ Leviste has been granted parole,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com. He, along with 34 other prisoners who were also granted parole, are expected to leave the New Bilibid Prison today.
The report pointed out that Leviste had been “convicted of homicide on January 14, 2009, for killing his long-time friend and aide Rafael de las Alas.” He was sentenced to 6 to 12 years in prison by the Makati City Regional Trial Court.
Leviste was once married to Senator Loren Legarda. They split in 2003.
