“In a resolution penned by Associate Justice Ramon Cruz and approved by Associate Justices Rosalinda Asuncion Vicente and Priscilla Baltazar-Padilla, the court upheld the decision of the Makati City Regional Trial Court (RTC) branch 58 that Fitness First cannot escape liability for the loss of valuables of club members Rommel de los Reyes and Gerlyn Turingan,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com. The incident happened back in 2006.
De los Reyes, a lawyer, reportedly lost an office uniform, a Nokia 6600 mobile phone, a wallet containing PHP3,000, and identification cards that were placed inside a Fitness First locker at their Robinsons Place Manila branch. Other reports noted that De los Reyes’ locker was not forcibly opened so it was suspected that the deed was an “inside job.”
Surprisingly, as the report revealed, the stolen items “were later found in the locker area of Fitness First on June 24, 2006, two days after the reported incident.”
