Why are there so many hotheads?

“A 50-year-old fishball vendor named Tirso Lorot was allegedly killed by Nestor Cerillo Sr., the losing player of cara y cruz (a coin game) during a wake in Binondo, Manila,” reports Jenny F. Manongdo in Tempo.

The report noted: “Investigation conducted by SPO3 Glenzor Vallejo revealed that Cerillo got mad at Lorot when he lost in the game. To prevent an altercation between the two men, Lorot’s nephew, Pedro, dragged him away from the wake. Meanwhile, Cerillo  went home together with his son Nestor Jr. — or so everyone thought.”

Apparently, the Cerillos were just getting weapons and more members of their clan to participate in an all-out fight.

The report revealed: “When they emerged from their house, Cerillo was holding a bladed weapon and a .38 revolver. Nestor Jr. had an improvised shotgun or “sumpak,” while his brothers Jayson, and brother Rey stood outside the house waiting for Lorot to pass by.”

Lorot reportedly ran as fast as he could to avoid the Cerillos. Unfortunately, they eventually caught him. Lorot fell to the ground and Nestor Sr. fired at him four times.

The Cerillos are facing charges for Lorot’s death.
