A massive fire destroyed 17 houses in Tancontian street, Barangay Agdao proper early Sunday.
The blaze broke out minutes after an hour-long power interruption ended, residents said.
“People were asleep when power came back, probably there were still lit candles,” resident Nica Padao shared.
Fire Inspector Christian Cena, station commander of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Davao Region, the fire started at an internet shop owned by Carol Lao, possibly due to electrical problems.
Several gas tanks exploded as the fire spread to an adjacent liquefied petroleum gas store.
No one was reported hurt in the incident.
