Fire hits Peace Hotel in Binondo

A fire erupted at a hotel in Binondo, Manila in the early hours of Thu, Aug 20.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said fire erupted at Peace Hotel along Soler St. at around 4am.

Eleven occupants were initially trapped inside the hotel, but they were rescued by firemen who led them towards the building’s fire exit. Prior to this, some 40 people managed to get out of the burning building.

Fire investigators said smoke was observed coming out from the hotel’s kitchen before the blaze.

The fire destroyed an estimated PHP1 million worth of property.

The blaze, which reached the fourth alarm, was put out at 6:17am (from a report by Miguel Dumaual, ABS-CBN News)
