Fire hits abandoned building in Escolta

The fire that hit the abandoned Philippine National Bank (PNB) building in Escolta, Manila started around 3am on Wed, Jan 7, and was declared under control at 9am.

“Fire officials said they will conduct a ‘mapping’ of the building, which also used to house the City College of Manila, to determine its structural stability,” reports InterAksyon.com.

The report noted: “At the same time, Vice Mayor Isko Moreno said he will coordinate with fire officials regarding the safety of the street below the building as the Black Nazarene procession is planned to pass by the street.”
