“Fire broke out at around 11:02 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, at The Original Savory Restaurant located along the once bustling Escolta Street in Manila,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
The restaurant is considered an iconic establishment, which has been in the area since 1950.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)–National Capital Region (NCR) said the fire was declared under control at 12:58pm.

The report noted: “A restaurant employee said the fire originated from an exhaust fan. The employee said they had to leave the building after they failed to extinguish the blaze.”
Due to the blaze, vehicles were not allowed to pass through the nearby Jones Bridge. Since Ayala Bridge is also closed to give way to its rehabilitation, traffic built up in the area.
