Now this looks intense.

Popular beauty YouTuber Jeffree Star posted a rant yesterday on his social media channels about a certain vlogger whom he said copied his “Jeffree Star Approved” series and slogan.

He didn’t name names but Filipino vlogger Michelle Dy immediately posted an apology on her social media accounts addressed to Star.

One of the most influential American beauty influencers, Star also owns a successful cosmetics brand.

Known for his numerous feuds with other influencers, he had a controversial fall out with his former best friend, businesswoman and tattoo artist Kat Von D. Star first gained fame as a musician before crossing over to the beauty industry.

Dy, on the other hand, is considered one of the top beauty vloggers in the Philippines.

Star’s video rant is no longer available on his Snapchat or Instagram account but a Twitter user by the name of @WhatsACarlo managed to download the video.

In it, Star says: “There is a YouTuber who is not known here in America but they recently tried to steal my Approved trademark in their whole entire channel. And I’m like, I didn’t even invent the word ‘Approved’ but girl, that has been my thing for two years now. It’s trademarked, it’s on merch, don’t try me.”

He insinuated that he might get his lawyers to address the infringement issue.

Star said: “I’m like b*tch, I don’t even wanna know your name. Don’t even bother searching for it after you hear this coz we don’t want to give no one any clout. But thank god for lawyers….[Y]ou really need to say ‘dadada, approved?’ You can’t think of anything else?”

On the same day, Dy tweeted her apology where she said she clearly indicated on her video’s description that it was inspired by Star’s series.

Her tweet reads: “Recently, I uploaded 2 new videos in my [Y]ouTube channel which was the ‘MD Approved New Series’ inspired by Jeffree, while it was clearly stated in the description box in the two videos that these two new videos in my channel were [the] Pinay version and inspired by international YouTubers, I was unaware that this ‘Jeffree Star Approved’ series is copyrighted in America.”

Music and pop culture website Myx has reported that Dy has taken down the videos. A look at her channel proves that they are no longer available.

In a subsequent tweet, Dy said that this is the first time that an issue like this has happened in the local beauty community.

In her most recent tweet posted today, Dy wrote that the last 24 hours have been difficult for her. She also hit back at her critics whom she feels are taking advantage of the controversy.

She wrote: “This mentality that you are pushing us down, you don’t have limits and [are] being entertained by this and other’s misfortune IS SICK. This is not right. This will be the last post for this issue.”

Her followers are generally supportive of Dy. Posted @cheartte: “TOXIC PEOPLE SHOULD EVAPORATE NOW.”

Her fan @drylnrllns wrote: “It’s sad that your fellow Filipinos are dragging you down.”

User @lapuzmadylaine wrote: “Those are useless people. Just smile. It [the controversy] will soon end.”

Twitter user @ImLittelbunny hit Dy’s critics and told them: “You keep bashing her, why don’t you vlog then we will criticize you?”

For his part, Star hasn’t posted any new statements alluding to the issue.
