United States President Donald Trump is in Manila at the moment to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit happening until Wednesday.

While we’ve already asked Filipinos what they think Trump’s first tweet will be once arriving on our shores (It’s this) and what a dinner between him and Rodrigo Duterte would be like, netizens reacted all on their own about another part of the POTUS’ visit — him wearing the traditional attire Barong Tagalog.

Trump and other visiting world leaders wore a Barong during the ASEAN Summit gala dinner held yesterday in the SMX Convention Center. And reactions from Filipinos to Trump’s style choice was mixed.

Some noted that the shirt, traditionally made with piña (pineapple) fabric, looked good on Trump.

But others were, let’s just say, not so diplomatic with their tweets.

“Gross, why is Donald Trump wearing a Barong take that shit away from my face,” one tweeter said in a mix of Filipino and English.

Others noted that we’re better off forgetting about the outfit and concentrating on important issues instead.

And that sounds like a good idea, something the administration may want to listen to.

Duterte’s spokesperson Harry Roque told reporters on Saturday that the Philippine president will not be discussing the drug war with Trump.

Issues the two might touch on include the North Korea missile crisis and the conflict over the South China Sea, Roque said.

Trump will be in the Philippines until tomorrow.
