“A woman has been arrested after attempting to rob a money exchange in Abu Dhabi by threatening the staff with a gun that turned out to be a plastic toy. The suspect had worn a veil in a bid to avoid recognition,” reports Nada Al Taher on GulfNews.com.
As it turns out, the suspect was a 33-year-old debt-ridden Filipina. She wore a veil to disguise herself, and bought the toy gun at a nearby grocery. She bought the abaya that she used as well as the head and face at a local store. The suspect was also carrying a knife on her, when she tried to rob the establishment.
According to the report, the Filipina had been staying in the country on expired visa. During interrogation, she confessed to having a Dh140,000 debt, which is why she hatched the robbery plan. The video below was released by the Abu Dhabi police:
