Filed: Bill requiring special license PUV drivers

Actually, this should have been done a long time ago. But, yes, better late than never.

“A-Teacher party-list Representatives Mariano Piamonte, Jr. and Julieta Cortuna filed House Bill 3832 seeking to ensure public safety against reckless drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs),” reports Charissa Luci in Manila Bulletin.

Piamonte and Cortuna were prompted to craft the bill in light of the alarming number of road accidents involving PUVs.

According to the report, “HB 3832 provides that no public utility driver’s license shall be issued unless the applicant has complied with the mandated 15 days of actual driving examination for public utility trains, five days for bus drivers, five days for public utility jeeps, and three days for tricycles.”
