What can we do to help this bill get passed?
“Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Rufus Rodriguez and his brother, Abante Mindanao party-list Rep. Maximo Rodriguez, have filed House Resolution 1028, which asks the House Committee on Transportation to summon officials of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to address the issue of alleged overcharging by taxi cabs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com.
Rodriguez pointed out that ordinary taxis charge a flag down rate of PHP40 and PHP3.50 for every 300 meters. Meanhwile, metered airport taxis, which are painted yellow, charge a PHP70 flag down rate and PHP4 for every 300 meters.
Rodriguez added that “despite higher rates, passengers are forced to take these yellow taxis due to an alleged verbal policy at the NAIA Terminal 3 that has prevented them from hailing cabs at the airport’s departure area.”
