Sometimes, these lawmakers really get fixated on the non-essential laws.
“Dinagat Islands Rep. Kaka Bag-ao and Camarines Sur Rep. Maria Leonor Gerona-Robredo filed House Bill 4021 or the ‘Health Beverage Options Act of 2014,’ which seeks to ban the sale of softdrinks, carbonated beverages, and other similar products in schools in the country,” reports Dennis Carcamo on Philstar.com.
The report said that under the measure, the following beverages shall not be provided or sold at schools:
1. soft drinks, sports drinks, punches, and iced teas;
2. fruit-based drinks that contain less than 50 percent real fruit juice or that contain additional sweeteners;
3. drinks containing caffeine, excluding low-fat or fat-free chocolate milk.
Well, we hope the proposed ban doesn’t cover buko juice, too.
