Is it possible to do it? Let’s face it. Almost everything is made in China these days.
The US Pinoys for Good Governance (USP4GG) is urging Filipinos all over the world to boycott products made in China as a form of protest to China’s so-called bullying in areas also claimed by the Philippines.
The USP4GG boycott includes big U.S. companies like Walmart, Target, and Apple which sell Chinese-made products.
“We know that this is a difficult thing to ask people to stop buying products from China but this has to be done eventually. But this is an important thing to express to the Filipino people that China is engaged in aggressive behavior,” said Ted Laguatan, legal counsel for USP4GG.
Laguatan said his group’s call to boycott will activate Filipinos all over the world into standing up to China’s so-called bullying in the West Philippine Sea.
“China is acting like a rogue nation; like a non-civilized member of the global community. Therefore, their attempt to get these oil resources of the Philippines by building these military bases on Philippine territory should be stopped,” he said.
The USP4GG has scheduled the anti-China boycott for June 12, Philippine Independence Day.
Aside from the boycott, Laguatan said the group also passed a resolution asking Catholics all over the world to “pray to our blessed Mother and her son Jesus to pray for world peace and to protect the Philippines from Chinese aggression.” (Read more on Balitang America.)
