Fil-Am chef goes to Hell’s Kitchen

Filipino-American chef Bev Lazo-Gonzalez who works at the California restaurant, Border Grill, is among 20 chefs competing in the latest season of Hell’s Kitchen, a reality show hosted by celebrity chef, Gordon Ramsay.

Lazo-Gonzalez, who was born in Pangasinan, is 43 and is a mother of two kids. “She first found a passion in cooking at age 9, getting inspiration from her mother Evelyn, a registered nurse,” reports BS-CBN North America News Bureau correspondent Steve Angeles on ABS-CBNnews.com.

When asked about her stint in “hell,” Lazo-Gonzalez said, “I think it’s cool and it’s a great way to represent our culture. We have a lot of great chefs who are Filipino and I think it’s time for us to shine.”
