It was a territorial tiff.
“On Monday, December 8, jeepney barker Belisa Macabatao, 50, was allegedly mauled and bashed with a pipe by Jomarie Almazar, 25, also a jeepney barker in Pasay City,” reports Mitch Arceo in Tempo.
Based on the information gathered by SPO1 Ricardo Mallong Jr., the incident happened at 7:30am in front of a fastfood chain on EDSA Extension corner Roxas Boulevard.
The report noted: “Macabatao was in front of Jollibee when Almazar arrived and confronted her. Almazar warned and told her to stop calling passengers in the area.”
In fact, Macabatao “claimed that Almazar threatened to kill her if she continues working in the said area, as the latter said it belonged to her.”
There was a heated argument between the two women before Almazar resorted to beating Macabatao with a pipe. She only stopped hitting Macabatao when PO1 Carl Timbang of the Pasay Police Community Precinct 11 intervened.
