FDA warns public against Green Barley powder juice drink

The Food and Drug Authority warns the public against buying a powder juice drink called Green Barley – A Total Food, which is being sold online and in small shops for PHP275-PHP300. According to the government agency, all food and drugs must go through it for analysis and, more importantly, verification of therapeutic claims. Green Barley, manufactured by Global Partners and distributed by Health Wealth, is “making false health and therapeutic claims against dengue, cancer, diabetes, leptospirosis, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, high cholesterol, arthritis, rheumatism, gout, rhinitis, impotence, goiter, arterial venous malformation, pre-menstrual tension, menopausal complaints, frequent urination, and myoma, among others” in its in print and digital ads. The product has been denied registration twice.
