FDA recalls one batch of Nagaraya Cracker Nut Original Butter Flavor

There’s a bit of a problem with a batch of the well-known packed peanut snack—but it’s probably going to scare a lot of people in a big way.

“On Monday, Mar 10, the Department of Health’s (DOH) Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said the distributor of Nagaraya has initiated the recall of a batch of the product’s Cracker Nut Original Butter Flavor for high levels of aflatoxin,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

The FDA explained in its press statement that Nagaraya manufacturer Food Industries, Inc. disclosed that its Nagaraya Cracker Nut Original Butter Flavor (160 grams)—identified under Lot No. 14019 with expiry date01242015F—was found to contain an unacceptable level for aflatoxin.

The aflatoxin is produced by fungi species. It is said to be “possibly carcinogenic.”

“The recall involves only the specified product under the mentioned lot number and no other Nagaraya variants and sizes are affected by the recall,” the FDA emphasized.
