FDA halts sale of antibacterial drug Clarie DS 250

If your doctor is making you take this drug, be sure to stay off this brand.

“The Food and Drug Administration has ordered the immediate pullout of an antibacterial drug from the local market,” reports Mayen Jaymalin in The Philippine Star.

Acting FDA director general Dr. Kenneth Hartigan-Go said a batch of Clarie DS 250 (generic name clarithromycin) has been recalled after the agency discovered it did not meet the specifications inside the product insert.

Go said the  product carried a safety risk that patients may be exposed to if it consumed the recalled product.

The official instructed all retail outlets to put on hold the sale of the drug.
