This is one of those stories that makes you ask, “What on earth were they thinking?”
“On Wednesday night, January 28, Gaudencio Sion, 62, was shot dead in Barangay Lanaz, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo. He was declared dead on arrival at Don Jose Monfort Memorial Hospital after sustaining wounds on the chest,” reports Jenel Baclay on ABS-CBNnews.com.
The report revealed that “the suspects are a 17-year-old male and his uncle, Antonio Belonio.”
The report noted: “According to police investigation, both the suspects and the victim were under the influence of alcohol during the incident. They added that Belonio was supposed to shoot a different person. However, Sion was the first person who went out of the door.”
What makes things worse is that “both suspects were said to be relatives of the victim.”
Since the report didn’t indicate that they fled, the suspects are presumably under police custody. The report said, though, that “the firearm used in the killing has yet to be recovered.”
