When radio deejay Karen Bordador and her boyfriend, Emilio Lim, were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Pasig City on Aug 13, people didn’t wonder if she was a nice person.
What everyone wanted to know was: Is she guilty? Or is #KarenBordadorInnocent?
So it’s curious that when Bordador’s sisters and cousin decided to embark on a social media campaign to save her reputation, they decided to go with the hashtag #KarenBordadorIsLove.
“How heartbreaking is it to have your loved one characterized like a monster when the truth is, every waking moment of her life is spent spreading love, humility, kindness and cheerfulness,” Bordador’s cousin, Jason Carlos Bulatao, posted on Facebook.
“My baby sister is a good person with a big heart. Our personalities are like water and oil, but she is just like the rest of us, in some ways even better. She only wants the greater good, starting from the people dearest to her heart and ending with the world,” wrote Bordador’s sister, Jocelyn.
“Pls be there for her now. She needs all of her friends now. Let her know that she has my support and there are a lot of people that believe in her. Stay strong,” wrote Bordador,s ex-boyfriend, Christopher Tan.
“Karen, I need you to know that nothing has changed. You are untainted, These people (sic) quick to judge have not seen the humility and goodness of your heart. I believe in your innocence. And I will continue to let people remember the kind of person you are. Hold on, love The truth will set you free,” wrote another friend, Cate Aquino.
The Bordador family has also released a statement condemning the use and possession of illegal substances. Social media painted a negative picture of Karen, they said, and it’s hurtful.
Bordador doesn’t need to be portrayed as a person who is full of love. What she needs, at this point, is justice and the right to be treated innocent until proven guilty.
