“Fake” tourists intercepted at Ninoy Aquino International Airport

The Bureau of Immigration has arrested two Chinese nationals at the Ninoy Auino International Airport for trying to enter the country with fake documents.

Wen Shiyuan and Shi Qingda, who arrived from Xiamen, China on Thursday, were ordered detained for claiming to have return flights to China on June 25. Lawyer Ma. Antonette Mangrobang, chief of Bureau of Immigration intelligence said, however, that the flight the two were supposed to take back to Xiamen does not exist.

“These are fake tourists.  While we welcome tourists they should desist from using spurious documents to gain entry to the Philippines,” BI commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said in a Manila Bulletin report.

Under Philippine immigration rules, tourists are required to present a visa, a passport valid for at least six months, and proof that they are only visiting.
