Like we said, criminals seem to be pretty confident about breaking the law right under everybody’s noses.
On Tue afternoon, Feb 23, Dante Acabal Aragones, 45, was arrested by airport police and officers from the Land Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for posing as a cop at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3).
“Ret. Gen. Neri Ilagan, chief of the Airport Police Department, said Aragones was the subject of a week-long surveillance after the LTFRB confirmed that the vehicle being used by Aragones does not have the necessary papers,” reports Raoul Esperas on ABS-CBNnews.com.
But Aragones had a lot of nerve.
When accosted by airport authorities, Aragones confidently introduced himself as “Superintendent Aragones” of the Philippine National Police (PNP) while showing off his alleged PNP ID.
Aragones’ vehicles are now under the custody of the Airport Police Department pending the issuance of a commitment order from the Pasay City Court. Aragones is facing charges for the usurpation of authority and illegal operation of a colorum vehicle.
Despite the evidence against him Aragones, claimed that he only used his fake PNP ID “to avoid being apprehended by traffic enforcers.”
