Expired and illegally-imported meds intercepted at Manila port

The Customs bureau has seized millions worth of expired and illegally-imported pharmaceutical products at the Manila International Container Port.

In a press briefing, officials presented a 40-foot container van filled with multi-vitamins, antibiotics and other over-the-counter meds. Customs deputy commissioner for intelligence Danilo Lim said they were alerted when they saw that the van containing medicine was not temperature controlled. Upon investigation, they also saw that the consignee had neither license to operate nor to import medicines.

The company will be charged with violation of Intellectual Property Rights Law and the Food and Drugs Administration Law, ABS-CBN News reported.
