Following the recent attack at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester which killed 22 people, police are preparing to increase security for the upcoming Britney Spears concert on June 15 at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

According to GMA News, security personnel, rescue teams, K-9 units, SWAT teams and anti-illegal drugs agents will be working together to ensure the safety of the fans.

Police said bags and sealed items will be inspected thoroughly before entering.

“You have to open it and let the security personnel inspect the contents of these packages or bags,” said Supt. Tomas Apolinario, director of the Southern Police District.

Last week, Quezon City Rep. Winston Castelo, who is the chairman of the House committee on Metro Manila development, said that security measures for the American pop star’s concert would be “stricter than what was originally planned” to prevent another terrorist attack.

“The Britney Spears concert should continue. There is no confirmed intelligence and external threat that would warrant its postponement,” Castelo said in a report by the Manila Bulletin.

Authorities are encouraging concert-goers to arrive early and to be patient. They also reminded fans to fully cooperate and to be vigilant during the event.
