There’s no denying that an eruption will most likely happen.
“The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology is monitoring Mayon Volcano for signs it may be entering the hazardous phase in the build-up to an explosive eruption,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.
Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum explained that they monitored “a slight increase in magma formation on the volcano’s southeastern slope and earthquakes since Monday.”
“The lava flow phase could be in an explosive phase in a few days. People have to pay attention to danger zones and safety zones we recommended,” Solidum stated.
Solidum added that they expect a larger volume of ash this time, compared to Mayon’s eruption in 2009.
