Those who won’t vote will have something in common with reelectionist Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who has opted to abstain from voting on Monday.
According to a report on Radio DZMM, the former President did not ask for permission to leave Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City where she is under hospital arrest. Arroyo is a registered voter of Lubao, Pampanga.
The Commission on Elections will not send a Precinct Count Optical Scan machine to the hospital either.
Elena Bautista-Horn, Arroyo’s spokesperson, said the former President is confident she will win the elections in Pampanga’s Second Congressional District despite being detained at VMMC since October 2012. Before her arrest on plunder charges over alleged irregularities in the use of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, she was granted bail in July 2012 for a separate electoral sabotage charge.
