Are crimes in the city getting more and more bizarre?
“Ex-convict Daniel Bautista, 24, was killed by a police officer after he ran amok in Barangay 185 of Tala, Caloocan City on Monday, Mar 10,” reports Rey Galupo in The Philippine Star.
Bautista’s neighbors called the barangay tanod after he started terrorizing them at around 12:30 am. They said Bautista, who had done time for robbery, was running around with a pen gun and an ice pick.
Barangay tanod Wilson Tablate and Police Officer 2 Michael Pineda rushed to the scene. Bautista freaked out even more when he saw them. He waved his pen gun at them and screamed, “Hindi ako pahuhuli ng buhay (I’m not going to be taken alive)!”
He ran into a house but Tablate and Pineda followed him. Once he was cornered, he shot Tablate. This left Pineda with no other choice but to shoot Bautista.
Bautista died on the spot. Tablate was taken to the hospital.
