You wouldn’t exactly say she’s the stereotypical, top-of-mind choice for such lists, but this isn’t that kind of “sexist women” list.
We commend Esquire.com for (1) picking Maria Ressa as the sexiest woman alive from the Philippines and (2) drumming up a kind of list that redefines what sexy is.
You’ll find the esteemed Filipino journalist in slide 141 of 195. In her very short — too short, actually — write up, Esquire.com describes her as follows: “Despite her size, fearless enough to write an eyewitness account of Al-Quada.”
The men of the Esquire website, of course, were referring to Ressa’s book, Seeds of Terror which talks about Al-Quada’s network of operations in Southeast Asia, published in 2011.
Also included in the 195-long list that Esquire.com has put together with the help of the editors from its 17 international editions are Naide Gomes, an athlete from Portugal; Malalai Joya, an activist from Afghanistan; Rihanna who is from Barbados; famous model Gisele Bundchen from Brazil, and Myanmar’s Aung San Suu Kyi.
“Yeah, you’ve got sashes but also presidents, human-rights activists, models with legitimate hearts of gold,” Esquire.com describes its list of sexy.
Told you it was interesting. See the entire list here.
