We’re applauding this mom for not being an enabler.
“The mother of Archie Pacheco—an inmate who escaped from the Mandaluyong City Jail last Monday, July 21—surrendered him to the police on Wednesday, July 23,” reports Non Alquitran in The Philippine Star.
After escaping with 10 other inmates, Pacheco, who is facing drug possession charges, hid in his partner’s house in La Loma, Caloocan City. His mother, Nida, then coordinated with Mandaluyong police chief Senior Superintendent Tyrone Masigon for his surrender.
Aside from Pacheco, three other escaped inmates were recaptured by the Mandaluyong police. Pacheco, however, is the only one who willingly went back to them.
The mass escape resulted in the relief of five policemen assigned to the facility.
The report noted: “Like his three fellow escapees, Pacheco pointed to fellow inmate Jordan Villadolid as the one who planned the mass escape.” They all said that Villadolid’s wife had managed to sneak in a hack saw, which they used to destroy the iron bars of a prison door.
