Escape: Rodeo Festival in Masbate

If you want to ride don’t ride that white horse — party people you know what we mean.

But you might consider flying to Masbate this week for the two-week long annual Rodeo Festival, which was first held in 1993. Apart from watching cowboys and cowgirls participating in heart-stopping rodeo games on Apr 8, there’s also a calesa ride that goes around the town area, passing through commercial areas, eateries and Masbate Bay, reports Manila Bulletin.

“In addition, while in Masbate, one activity that tourists should not miss is horseback riding. The picturesque landscape of the province serves as a perfect backdrop for a relaxing, invigorating ride,” it adds.

Get your Instagram ready: there’s also a street barn dance (Apr 10) rodeo salon (ongoing till Apr 13) and beef cooking contest (Apr 11).

Zest Air and Philippine Airlines fly to Masbate Island. For more information about the festival, go to www.philippinerodeofinals.com.
